Abstract

A one-chip integrated circuit (IC) of a 10-W class D audio power amplifier with very high efficiency using CMOS technology is presented in this paper. A mixture of a class D output stage and a bridge tied load (BTL) is the main topology of the proposed amplifier. This realizes a new 10-W IC audio power amplifier with a 12 V power supply with an efficiency of more than 90% and total harmonic distortion (THD) of 0.1% without any heat sink, all in CMOS and packaged in a normal DIP. The amplifier is implemented in a 4-/spl mu/m double-metal single-poly CMOS technology that supports MOSFETs that can endure the relatively high voltage of 12 V.
