Abstract

These proceedings are a collection of the selected articles presented at the 10th International School- Conference for young scientists and specialists "New Materials", meeting "Materials for Extreme Environment: development, production and application" (MEEDPA10), held in Moscow, Russian Federation on 19-23 October 2015. This conference is regularly organized by the Center of Nuclear Systems and Materials (NSM) of National Research Nuclear University MEPhI (Moscow Engineering Physics Institute), as well as the Scientific and Technical Material Scientists Society (MSS), Russian Federation. The School-Conference was sponsored by the Competitiveness Growth Program of MEPhI ("5-100" Russian Academic Excellence Project - http://5top100.ru).One of the main goals of this School-Conference was to train young scientists in matters of interdisciplinary scientific communications. Meetings were held in the form of review lectures of the leading scientists with free discussion and personal oral and poster presentations of the participants. The general scope of the School-Conference covered the materials and nuclear fuel for PWR/BWR and fast breeder reactors. The conference was attended by 143 participants from 8 countries (Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, France, UK and USA). During the four days of the conference 14 invited lectures, 25 oral and 47 poster presentations were delivered. However, only some papers were qualified for being published in the Open Access IOP Conference Series: Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) journal.Based on the peer-review process, of the reports presented at the school-conference, 66 selected papers were included in this volume. These papers present new research in the various fields of Materials Science and Technology for Nuclear Engineering. We sincerely hope that the reports presented in this volume will contribute to the advancement of knowledge not only in these fields, but also others. All papers in the issue are grouped into four sections, as well as in the conference program: (1) Structural materials: steels, Zr- and V- alloys, refractory alloys; (2) Functional materials and nuclear fuel; (3) Technology: brazing, welding, sintering, ion and plasma treatment; (4) Methods of research and modeling of materials. The organizing committee of the conference thanks all the participants for their fruitful work and personal contribution to the development of these conference proceedings.
