Abstract

The role of cardiovascular imaging in atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) risk estimation and prediction continues to evolve. In this chapter, we describe the role of cardiac computed tomography–based coronary calcium score estimation and carotid ultrasound–based assessment of atherosclerotic plaque in improving ASCVD risk estimation, and describe the evidence supporting the use of these imaging modalities in clinical practice.
