Abstract

This chapter presents conclusions and recommendations based on the results of a number of separate studies related to the coherent understanding of how society can perceive and implement renewable energy systems. The subject is dealt with by combining two aspects: a theory and a tool. Choice Awareness is used as a theoretical framework to aid the understanding of how major technological changes, such as renewable energy, can be implemented both at the national and international levels. The tool relates to the development of an energy system analysis method and a computer model for designing renewable energy systems using a smart energy systems approach. In this chapter, the results are presented as conclusions related to principles and methodologies as well as recommendations for the practical implementation of renewable energy systems in Denmark and in similar countries.
