Abstract

Chapter 1 describes the techniques involved in scleral buckling surgery, including circumferential, segmental, and sponge elements, and various drainage techniques such as needle drainage, indirect laser-assisted drainage, or nondrainage of subretinal fluid. The pearls and pitfalls of the surgical techniques are described to help new surgeons and even seasoned surgeons review surgical concepts in order to obtain successful surgical outcomes.
