Abstract

Impurities in diamond are promising candidate qubits for applications in quantum information processing. Electron and nuclear spins associated with these impurities combine long coherence times with optical addressability, and have been used to demonstrate several important elements of proposed quantum information processing systems. Here we review recent experimental progress in the optical manipulation of impurities in diamond, and efforts to build more complex quantum systems involving coupled qubits.
