Abstract

The i.r. and Raman spectra of 1-phenylazo-2-naphthylamine as well as i.r. spectra of its Ni(II) complex have been measured. Using 1H→ 2H and metal—isotope substitutions tentative band assignments habe been proposed. The Ni-N amino and Ni-N azo stretching vibrations occur at 340, 327 and 283 cm −1, respectively. The assignments are compared with those proposed for similar complex compounds.
