Abstract

An illustration of L12 and B2 structures and their description is the subject of this chapter. It is intended to make the reader familiar with the iron-based A3B and AB compounds. The A3B compounds of this group are known as the L12 structures while the AB compounds are the B2 structures. Among the L12 structures the Ni3Al, Ni3Ga, Ni3Ge, Co3Ga, and Co3Ge and among the B2 structures the NiAl, CoAl, FeAl, NiGe, and NiGa intermetallic compounds are considered. In addition the DO3 Fe3Al is discussed.
