Abstract
The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C18H10O2S4, contains one half-molecule, the other half being generated by a twofold rotation axis. The compound was synthesized in good yield utilizing a benzoin condensation reaction (starting with 2,2′-bithienyl-5-carbaldehyde). The thiophene rings are not coplanar; the central C—C—C—C torsion angle is −138.62 (2)°.
