Abstract

Cutaneous Lupus Erythematosus (CLE) is a spectrum of autoimmune skin diseases that are characterized by interface dermatitis and lupus band reaction, or inflammation and autoantibody deposition at the dermal-epidermal junction. Several triggers have been identified including UV light, drug reactions and smoking, but CLE immunopathogenesis remains to be fully elucidated. There is mounting evidence that B cells play a role in CLE development and in skin manifestations of systemic lupus. We used a mouse model of CLE to test the role of B cells in development of skin lesions.
