Abstract

This chapter discusses the synthesis and characterization of an aluminum-substituted manganese phosphate with gismondine (GIS) topology. An aluminum-substituted manganese phosphate (A1MnPO-GIS) containing tetrahedrally coordinated Mn 2+ ions has been synthesized by using ethylene glycol as the predominant solvent and ethanolamine as the structure-directing agent under a solvothermal condition. The material is analogous to zeolite GIS. The successful synthesis of AlMnPO-GIS suggests that the Mn 2+ dominant aluminum-manganese phosphates with a different zeolite structure can be obtained by the variation of template and reaction conditions.
