Abstract

The paper considers ethical and legal aspects of the medical secrecy principle formation in Russia. The article analyses legal regulation of medical secrecy at the end of the XIX - the beginning of the XX century. Scientific originality of the study involves identifying gaps in the tsarist and post-revolutionary legislation, which predetermined the necessity to improve ethical and legal regulation of medical secrecy in Russia. The findings indicate that at the end of the XIX - the beginning of the XX century, the Russian medical and legal communities urgently needed legislative solutions to protect medical secrecy, however, in the mentioned period, the state couldn’t solve the problem.
