Abstract

The Russian North economic development in the second half of the XIX - at the beginning of the XX century is closely associated with railway construction. The study focuses on railway construction history in the Russian North. The subject of the research is the Russian government policy in the periods within this chronological framework. Relevant aspects of the government policy under the conditions of state-private financing of railway construction are examined on the basis of the comprehensive approach. Importance of railways for developing trade and economic relations of the Russian North with other regions of the country is revealed.
