Abstract

On June 6, 1970, a number of specimens of tongue worms were collected from the lung of the reticulate python, Python reticulatus, which had been captured in Southeast Asia and died in the “Amazonland” located in Beppu, Oita Prefecture. They were identified asArmillifer moniliformis heymonsiby the follow morphological characters.Female: Body length 62 to 85 mm, scolex 6 to 7 mm long and 4 to 5 mm wide, and the number of abdominal rings 27 to 30.Male: Body length 20 to 24 mm, scolex about 4 mm long and 4 mm wide, and the number of abdominal rings 21 or 22. The ventral part from the posterior of head to the middle of body is armed with about 20 to 24 thorn-like hooks arranged in two rows. Egg is oval, 0.068 to 0.080 mm by 0.050 to 0.058 mm.
