Abstract

Dianthus cretaceus Adam and related species have been investigated in the Caucasus. D. zangezuricus Nersesian sp. nova has been described, which differs from D. cretaceus by morphological features of calyx, bracteoles and capsule. D. cretaceus subsp. sevanensis Nersesian subsp. nova has been described, which differs from the type subspecies by more numerous bracteoles. D. integerrimus Bunge is accepted as an independent species differing from D. cretaceus by number and shape of bracteoles, as well as by capsule morphology. D. cretaceus subsp. multicaulis (Boiss. et Huet) Nersesian comb. et stat. nov. and D. cretaceus subsp. dmanissianus (M. Kuzmina) Nersesian comb. et stat. nov. have been distinguished. There are numerous intermediates between the two subspecies and the type subspecies in the area of overlapping of their distribution ranges.
