Abstract

In this changing economic situation empowering leadership(EL) has emerged as a particular form of leadership, distinct from other leadership. empowering leadership(EL) involves a transfer of power from middle management to employee with high autonomy and who are able to take initiative and make decisions about daily activities. This research focuses on the impact of empowering leadership (EL) on innovative behavior and job performance, as mediated by core self-evaluation(CSE). Results of this study are summarized as the follows: First, empowering leadership( autonomy support and development support) has positive(+) effect on core self-evaluation(self-esteem, generalized self-efficacy, locus of control, emotional stability). Second, core self-evaluation has positive(+) effect on innovation behavior and job performance. Third, core self-evaluation can mediate the relationship between empowering leadership and innovative behavior. Fourth, core self-evaluation can mediate the relationship between empowering leadership and job performance.
