Abstract
Concrete filled steel tube column is one of the best methods to increase the structural efficiency using its constitutive material's complementary properties. But, the limitation of material strength in present design code is a big obstacle to enhance the high strength materials. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the axial load capacity in present design code in high strength materials by analyzing previous research results. The materials using this study are test results by several researchers from 2002 to 2012. Test results of total 88 specimens are analyzed with the AISC 360-10 code and B.Uy's proposed formula. Analytical results indicated that present design code approximately well estimate the axial load capacity below 600MPa of the steel yield strength regardless of the class of section type. But, it is necessary to revise the load capacity in high strength steel especially in non-compact element because it underestimate their design strength compared with test results.
