Abstract

The purpose of this study was to develop Information Delivery Manual (IDM) which defines when and which part of the data should be exchanged for structural design of composite beams and composite columns focused on check for limit states. To achieve this purpose, user requirements of information exchange were defined for the scope of data exchange and, within this scope, process map (PM) for composite beams and columns were defined. And, according to these PMs, context, material, geometry, required strength, provided strength, and serviceability were derived as exchange requirement (ER). Also, based on these ERs, unit, id, material_steel, material_concrete, geometry_H_section, geometry_concrete, deckplate, stud_bolt, rebar, load_combination, load, force, displacement, and capacity were derived as functional part (FP). Then, the entities and Psets in IFC4 were mapped to the corresponding FPs. In some cases, new Psets were created. Finally, the developed IDM was tested using a program based on Excel and VBA. The test results showed that the required data for structural design of composite beams and columns can be exchanged successfully according to the developed PMs, ERs, FPs in the IDM.
