Abstract

The author considers the notion “virtual museum” in the context of communication science. Five criteria for the effectiveness of the educational Internet portal are identified, its areas of influence as a subject of network communications are revealed, and the problems that can be solved with the help of different types of content are shown. The empirical basis of the study is the educational media project ‘Arzamas’ that is a kind of the consolidator of the humanities knowledge on the RuNet. As a result of the analysis, the hypothesis about the high potential of the “virtual museum” format, which embodies the actual for the digital society mass communication model, is confirmed.
