Abstract

The purpose of the article is to illustrate the argumentative-pragmatic function of rhetorical techniques using the examples of repetition which is very popular in modern French political rhetoric. The purpose of argumentation is to influence the audience. The implementation of the task of argumentation is associated with expressiveness, which, in turn, is realized through the use of rhetorical techniques. The aesthetic and persuasive features of rhetorical devices are interrelated to such an extent that the term “rhetorical device” is often replaced by the term “argumentative device”; moreover, devices are considered as an element of thought.
