Abstract

In the difficult political conditions of the first half of the 20th century, the beginning of the Armenian printing in Syunik was a phenomenon in the Armenian reality. It is one of the links that completes the history of Armenian printing. Bibliographic lists provide information on the limited editions of the first printing house in Syunik, but since this printing house is little studied, we are hopeful that new names will emerge. The beginning of the Armenian printing of Syunik dates back to 1908. This date remains unchanged as no earlier publications are found. According to our most recent data, only books and periodicals were published in Syunik until 1922. Only Armenian publications are known. We are sure that there were Russian prints, as the printing house had Russian fonts, and the existence of Turkish prints is currently doubtful until such publications are found. The history of Syunik printing in 1922-1950 was not effective and purposeful, as the printing houses rather served the purpose of spreading the ideology of the Soviet power. Syunik, as a printing house, still needs to be thoroughly researched, which will be facilitated by the publication of materials stored by different individuals or in different archives.
