Abstract

Following the previous report, this paper discusses the waveforms, colliding positions and colliding velocities in the vibration with collision. The colliding vibration may be classified into three types, push, neutral and pull, according to the colliding position which exceed or does not over the upper or lower limits of free vibration amplitude, and they are mainly determined by frequency ratio, colliding number ratio and damping factor. The relations between the colliding positions and the corresponding collding velocities can be expressed by quadratic equations shown as ellipse and the inclination of its main axis are differed by the types. The maximum colliding velocity is linearly proportional to the colliding position approximately when the contact time and the damping are negligibly small. The products of the critical colliding position and corresponding colliding velocity is equal to that of the maximum colliding velocity and corresponding position. It is confirmed that the theoretical results agree well with experimental studies.
