Abstract

Reconstruction and thematic analysis of the book repertoire of the Crimean ASSR is an important direction in the study of regional book culture. The thematic analysis of the identified Crimean publications of 1921–1941 allows us to conclude about the refraction of national trends in publishing policy through the prism of regional specifics. The difference in approaches to the formation of the Russian and Crimean Tatar part of the publishing repertoire is revealed. The Crimean State Publishing House issued publications in the Crimean Tatar language. Crimean Tatar language publications are characterized by a wider thematic coverage. Russian-language publications cover topics of local importance, the main body of scientific literature. Thematic specificity is also identified according to the activity’s characteristic of an area. Yalta publications are characterised by sanatorium-resort, local history, botanical and plant-growing themes. Sevastopol publications trace the naval theme. This specialization is also characteristic of the pre-Soviet period of Crimean book publishing. Further study of the Crimean book repertoire will make it possible to trace changes in its formation, clarify its thematic specificity, and identify previously unrecorded editions.
