Роль української інтелігенції в провідницькому освітньому русі 1917-1920 рр.

Abstract

In the article, the authors reveal the role of the Ukrainian intelligentsia in the guiding educational movement of 1917-1920, as during the period of the national-democratic revolution of the Ukrainian people, it was the social organizations and cultural and educational societies that took the honorary role of guides and leaders in this field. In fact, the public took care of education in Ukraine until the formation of the first leading Ukrainian educational institution – the General Secretariat of Education. With the active participation of public figures, the first Ukrainian gymnasium was set up, they took the Ukrainianization of the school in Ukraine, arranging in 1917 the first courses of Ukrainian studies for teachers throughout the country, elaborated the main provisions of the reform of school education, took care of terminology and the publication of school books. During its activities and in the period of Denikin and at the beginning of the Soviet government, it was the patriotically conscious intelligentsia who was the leading force in society, which laid the foundations for the development of Ukrainian schooling, fulfilled its mission and mission to bring the national education, mother tongue, to the Ukrainian people.
