Abstract

The article reveals the history of the organization of artistic life in Baikal Siberia by the Society for the Dissemination of Public Education and Popular Entertainment in 1900–1908. At the moment, researchers have not studied in detail the activities of a public association in introducing residents to art, they have not analyzed the constituent and accompanying documents of the organization, which are part of the State Archives of the Irkutsk Region. A more detailed analysis and study of a wide range of sources makes it possible to imagine the process of introducing the inhabitants of Baikal Siberia to art in 1900–1908. The article showed that through historical sources it is possible to understand how this process took place. The society for the dissemination of public education and folk entertainment supported the development of artistic life in Baikal Siberia. A detailed study and analysis of materials from the collection of the State Archives of the Irkutsk Region, where records of active participants in public events have been preserved, proved that the organization actively participated in the process of introducing the inhabitants of Baikal Siberia to art in 1900–1908.
