Abstract

The article is dedicated to the outstanding philologist Kim Kirillovich Vasin. He made a significant contribution to the development of the main issues of Mari literary criticism of the 1950–1980s. His works have not lost their significance at the current stage of development of regional science. A great merit of the researcher is the study of the creative interaction of Mari literature, the role of Russian literature in the emergence and formation of Mari literature, the biography and work of repressed writers: the founder of Mari literature Sergei Chavain, the poet and film actor Yivan Kyrlya and others. The desire of Kim Kirillovich Vasin to establish patterns, identify characteristic trends in the development of Volga literatures and show their interaction in the historical process was of particular importance. The scientific heritage of K. Vasin created the basis for the further development of national literary criticism in the field of comparative studies.
