Abstract

A computer program to analyse the static and dynamic rigidity of a machine tool structure is developed by utilizing the finite element method, and it is applied to the real and models of machine tool structures. In the static analysis, a solution is obtained by the node reduction method using the Choleski decomposition method. In the dynamic analysis, the first approximate eigen values are obtained by the Jacobi method and then it is improved by the conjugate gradient method. It is confirmed that the computer program is applied to analysis of complicated structures such as machine tool with reasonable good accuracy and rather short computing time.
