Abstract

In order to raise the level of efficiency in the automatic grinding machine of pinion cutter, the investigations were carried out on the measurements of grinding force at various grinding conditions, as first step. In this paper, the grinding force is measured by the use of octogonalelastic ring with eight strain gages. This ring is enterd to the main part for a pinion and then set the grinding sample on it.The results obtained are summarized as follows.(1) On the distributions of the grinding force, that reaches a minimum near by the Lase circle, gradually increases that from the base circle to the top and then reaches a maximum at a tooth face near by the top.(2) The ratio of normal force to tangential force is from 3.5 to 6. It is larger than the conventional ratio.(3) The decreasing rates of grinding force in the spark-out grinding were investigated and compared the grindi-nability of SKI-13 with that of T15.
