Abstract
Purpose: The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship among sports performance strategies, athlete engagement, and sport confidence of high school athletes.BR Method: The subjects of this study were 236 physical education high school athletes. Multiple regression analysis was performed with the collected data using SPSS 23.0.BR Results: First, the control of condition, imagery & goal orientation, and relaxation had a positive (+) influence on confidence. The control of condition and imagery & goal orientation had a positive (+) influence on dedication. And the imagery and goal orientation had a positive (+) influence on vigor and enthusiasm. Second, the control of condition and imagery & goal orientation had a positive (+) influence on proficiency proof. The control of condition had a positive (+) influence on social support. And the control of condition, and imagery & goal orientation had a positive (+) influence on coaching leadership. Moreover, the control of condition, imagery & goal orientation, and relaxation had a positive (+) influence on physical and mental confidence. Third, confidence had a positive (+) influence on proficiency proof and coaching leadership. The confidence and enthusiasm had a positive (+) influence on social supporting. And the confidence and dedication had a positive (+) influence on physical and mental confidence. Fourth, the athlete engagement was revealed to function as a partial mediator effect on the relationship between sports performance strategies and sport confidence.BR Conclusion: These results mean that athlete engagement and sport confidence can be improved through sports performance strategies of high school athletes, and their sport confidence can be improved through athlete engagement as a positive (+) influencing mediating variable.
