Abstract

The article analyzes economic terms with a figurative meaning, examines the causes of their origin and functional features in texts of various styles and genres. It is emphasized that the representation of scientific concepts by means of terms is fully realized only in highly specialized texts. In other types of discourse, terms with a transposed meaning, besides the cognitive function and the function of denoting special concepts, can also be endowed with phatic, emotional and argumentative functions.
