Abstract

The article discusses the problem of correlation of intercultural and communicative competences in the aspect of teaching a foreign language to senior secondary school pupils. The conclusion is made that sociocultural competence is a key link between communicative and intercultural competences in practice of teaching a foreign language at the senior stage of secondary education. The paper describes the structure and content of senior secondary school pupils’ intercultural competence taking into account changes in Russia’s cultural policy and requirements of the Federal State Educational Standard.
