Abstract

This study aims to derive implications for the Korean language teacher education, with particular reference to Korean culture education. The metaphor analysis was used to analyze the mindset of 77 student teachers at a cyber university about Korean culture and Korean culture education. The results show that Korean language student teachers are aware of Korean culture in terms of diversity, warmth, sweetness, inclusiveness, dynamism, passion, Korean culture excellence, Korean culture role, and Korean culture properties and that they view Korean culture education in terms of the definition, content, and method of Korean cultural education, such as the nature, purpose, and role of Korean cultural education. It is also found that understanding Korean culture influences the formation of awareness of Korean culture education. Implications for improving the Korean language teacher education process were also proposed.
