Abstract
This thesis, called “Development of special touristic destinations – a study case for Lichades - Lichadonisia”, was completed during the 3rd semester of my master's degree of the department “Business Management & Administration” called “Business Administration-Tourism Management (MBA Tourism Management)”. Touristic destination marketing is a multidimensional field on which our country must focus in order to cope with the mounting competition and improve its international image. The present research examines the touristic potentials of the special area of Lichades. It took place in the beach of the island “Monolia” (old beach) and the beach of the island “Small Lichadonisi” (new beach), as it is called by the locals. It was conducted to study the profile of the tourists who visited the island, how satisfied they were with the characteristics of the island and the factors that influenced the choice of the destination. The aim of the study was to explore the reason why there is an increase in the number of people who visit the place and whether there is a chance of greater development of the place as a special touristic destination. The thesis consists of the following four parts: The first part, “Presentation of the touristic destination” attempts to present information of the place, which remains unknown to the majority of the population. The information is mainly derived from oral and internet sources, as there are only few books referring to the island. The first part continues with the study of the touristic product “Lichadonisia” through the analyses of Swot and Pest and ends with a general report on the wider area of Lichadonisia and especially on the prefecture of Evia where Lichadonisia belong to. The second part, titled “Theoretical Approach”, refers to the analysis of some basic definitions of destination marketing and some other important notions for the essential connection of marketing theory with the findings of the study. In the third part called “Presentation of the research”, are mentioned the results of every question of the questionnaire. The descriptive analysis is enriched with the analysis of the correlation and the cross tabulation of some questions with some others, which can lead to useful conclusions about the special characteristics of the place. In conclusion, the last part presents some suggestions and requirements for the touristic development of the place.
