Abstract

Ukrainian ethnomusicologist Lina Dobrianska (Лiна Добрянська) states in the article, that Lviv M. V. Lysenko National Academy of Music (LLNAM) is one of the main ethnomusicological institutions in Ukraine, which has deep traditions of musical folklore research works. At the end of the 20th and beginning of the 21st centuries, musical and ethnographic activities at the Academy reached a qualitatively new level thanks to the versatile activity of the Musical Ethnology Problem Scientific Research Laboratory (MEPSRL) at LLNAM and the rapid development of its Archive. To date, its funds contain the largest national audio collection of traditional music from the Western Ukrainian and adjacent territories, as well as voluminous accompanying graphic materials. In the article, on the basis of numerous archival documents, a brief historical digression was prepared with a periodization of the main stages of practical musical and folklore studies in LLNAM in close connection with the educational process, the main factors that have made the development of the MEPSRL Archive on the verge of millennia been revealed.
