Abstract

Objectives It was to confirm how project-based learning methods work on the learning goal achievement competency of nursing graduate students and how the students perceive the learning experiences. Methods Quantitative and qualitative researches were conducted on literature review, class design, questionnaire development, survey, and learners' perception survey and result analysis in sequence for graduate students who took the “Nursing Education Methodology” class applied with the project-based learning method. For quantitative data analysis, normality test and paired t-test were performed, and qualitative data were analyzed based on inductive content analysis. Results First, the learning goal achievement capability of learners was statistically significant. Second, in the survey of perceptions of learning experiences, 1) Participation class, understanding various teaching and learning methods, new experiences, information technology acquisition, collaborating learning, and task solving within class hours were derived from the satisfaction factors of the experiences of health education classes. On the other hand, difficult lesson program and inhibition of team activity were derived from dissatisfaction factors. 2) the results of the study were planned to apply to the clinical field, self-directed learning model, new and in-service nurse education. 3) 7 self-images changed to new nursing educator were derived. 4). 6 kinds of necessary competence for professional nursing educator were derived. 5) 3 learning subjects and contents needed for strengthening effective field-based health education were derived. 6) A total 5 categories of competence improved by the learning class were derived. Conclusions The project-based learning method was confirmed to be effective teaching and learning method for nursing graduate students to enhance their professionalism as nurse educators. In addition, the importance of establishing curriculum and applying teaching and learning methods to strengthen the educational professionalism of nurses is also confirmed. Based on the results of this study, It is recommended that follow-up studies on how nursing graduate students who have learned educational expertise apply it in the clinical fields and how it is effective will be conducted.
