Abstract

The article describes the concept “cognitive activity”,and the importance of the development of cognitive activity of preschool children. The necessity of using folk tales for the development of cognitive activity of children of the senior preschool age is emphasized. The folk tale develops in the child of preschool age the components of cognitive activity such as: memory, thinking, attention, imagination, speech, perception and stimulates to training.The article analyzes the works of philosophers, psychologists and educators on the problem of development of cognitive activity of children of preschool age. There are outlined situations that should be integrated with the use of this most effective means for the development of cognitive activity of preschool children. The pedagogical conditions for increasing the effectiveness of folk tales on the development of cognitive activity of older preschool children are considered.
