Abstract

The article aims to consider the possibility of preserving the conceptual content of poetic text in the translation based on the word play technique. The paper presents the pre-translation analysis of two works by German poets, whose idiostyle is characterized by the use of word play. The author comes to the conclusion that in the translation of such poems in case of discrepancy of linguistic means in the source and target languages, the translation dominant is conceptual content, and the translator has to sacrifice factual information, in some cases - the form.
