Abstract
The research aims to identify: 1- Academic pressures among middle school students. 2- The statistically significant differences in academic stress among middle school students according to the variables a. Gender (male - female) NS. Specialization (scientific – literary To achieve the objectives of the research, the researchers relied on the following: 1. Using the descriptive correlative approach to detect the academic stress of middle school students. The Academic Stress Scale based on Lazarus’s theory of cognitive assessment. The final scale consisted of (33) items after completing the conditions of honesty, stability, discriminatory strength and internal consistency. It was divided into five areas (family stress, study stress, peer pressure, physical stress, future stress.) To complement that, the researchers applied the scale to a sample of (400) male and female students in the center’s schools affiliated to the General Directorate of Al-Qadisiyah Education, and it was selected by stratified random method according to the proportional method. After data collection and statistical processing using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS), the following results were reached 1. Middle school students have academic stress, which is statistically significant. There are no statistically significant differences in academic pressures according to the variable of gender (males - females), as both have academic pressures, and there are no statistically significant differences according to the variable of specialization (scientific - literary To complement the findings of the research, the researchers made several recommendations, including: 1. Conducting training programs to relieve academic pressures for middle school students. 2. Paying attention to the school environment and encouraging students to participate in sports and artistic activities in order to vent emotionally from the academic pressures they suffer from, alleviate their impact on them, and create an educational environment capable of meeting their needs. The researchers put forward several proposals, including: 1. Conducting a study of the variable of academic pressures, and the important role played by educational institutions to relieve pressures among students of the preparatory stage (males, females). Conduct follow-up studies of the concept of academic pressures and strategies for coexisting with pressures for each academic stage Keywords: academic stress, middle school students
