Abstract

The aim of the study is to reveal the potential for the holistic development of research culture among technical university students based on the analysis of the existing educational standards of higher education. The paper substantiates the need for research culture formation among technical university students as a way to improve their professional competence in solving research and innovation tasks, presents the results of analysing the educational standards of higher education in areas of training related to engineering, technology and technical sciences, which reflect certain aspects of the development of students’ research culture in terms of the mastery of universal and general professional competencies. The scientific novelty of the study lies in identifying contradictions in the system of engineering and technical personnel training due to the lack of an integral system for research culture formation among students. As a result of the study, the generalized competencies reflecting aspects of research culture development among students in engineering and technical fields were formulated. It was found that the generalized competencies characterizing the holistic development of research culture among technical university students are presented fragmentarily. The paper outlined the directions for improving the system of engineering and technical personnel training based on research culture formation.
