Abstract

The US National Library of Medicine (NLM) is the center of information activities related to evidence-based medicine (EBM). This report focuses on recent NLM activities, especially the creation system of databases, the use of Internet services, and consumer health information services. An Web-based MEDLINE, PubMed services connects various sources, including electronic journals, Genebank, and related article citation data. For consumers, the MEDLINEplus service links to selected health information resources on the Internet. NLM continually strives to improve their home pages and create various Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) pages. Finally, the relationship between NLM and other US agencies, such as the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, are explained from the EBM point-of-view.
