Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of psychological terms of Zhong-yong attitude on psychological well-being among Korean and Chinese athletes. There were 295 Kroean adult athletes and 284 chinese adult athletes participated in this research. Data was analyzed by confirmatory factor analysis, independent t-test, one-way ANOVA. The results were shown as follow: First, Korean athletes’ Zhong-yong consists of three-factor: timeliness, empathy, balance, Chinese athletes’ Zhong-yong consists of three-factor: timeliness and empathy, timeliness and balance, empathy and balance. Korean athletes’ scored higher than Chinese athletes in positive relationship. Nevertheless Chinese athletes’ scored higher than Korean athletes in perspective of environmental mastery, purpose of life and personal growth. Second, Korean athletes’ zhong-yong has significant effect on environmental mastery, positive relationship, purpose of life and personal growth; Chinese athletes’ zhong-yong has significant effect on self-acceptance, positive relationship, purpose of life and personal growth. Although there are differences in zhong-yong and psychological well-being among Korean and Chinese athletes, Korean and Chinese athletes’ Zhong-yong attitude has a positive effect on psychological well-being.
