Abstract

The control of the frequency of car maintenance, remaining the main tool to ensure the safety of a rolling stock, has also become a tool of the competition struggle of manufacturers. Some manufacturers announce of the periodicity increase of the technical maintenance of their automobiles, presenting it as the proof of the raise of the quality of their products in comparison to their competitors. Operating the results of the experimental data of Kia business-class cars, the article proves that an extreme raise of the periodicity of technical maintenance leads to the reduce of the safety of a rolling stock and that the periodicity must not be maximum but optimal. Also, optimal periodicity and the composition of the diagnostic and restoration operations when car maintenance is being carried out have been set.
