Abstract

Objectives The present study is to identify the mediating effect of teacher efficacy and parenting efficacy on the relationship between role strain and life satisfaction of elementary school female teachers with children. Methods A total of 328 female teachers in elementary school with children under elementary school age participated in the survey for demographic information and research variables and the data was analyzed using SPSS 25.0 and PROCESS Macro to verify research questions. Results The result revealed that teacher efficacy partially mediated the relationship between role strain and life satisfaction and parenting efficacy also partially mediated the relationship between role strain and life satisfaction. In addition, teacher efficacy and parenting efficacy parallelly mediated the relationship between role strain and life satisfaction and parenting efficacy had a bigger mediating effect. Conclusions These results suggest that it is effective to intervene in teacher efficacy and parenting efficacy when elementary school female teachers with children experience a decrease in life satisfaction due to role strain.
