Abstract

The article highlights the peculiarities of the educational environment's organization during the study of the integrated course «Civic Education» in senior school applying innovative teaching methods. It is given the effectiveness assessment of the lesson organization aimed at critical thinking development in senior pupils. The article identifies ways to develop critical thinking during the study of this course. It is analyzed the qualitative indicator during the application of various innovative teaching methods in the critical thinking development in senior pupils. It is proved that the successful application of critical thinking at civic education lessons in senior school gives positive results in the development of senior pupils’ skills and abilities. They are as follows: analysis of the information obtained; clearly and thoughtfully state their own opinions, argue their point of view, respecting others and considering their own opinion; recognize contradictory data, judgments, arguments, identify and correct errors in other people's reasoning and recognize them in their own. It is analyzed the effectiveness of some innovative teaching methods applied in the critical thinking technique, considering the specifics of the lesson structure.
