Abstract

This study examined antecedents to early retirement intention. Especially This study also sought to demonstrate that early retirement and turnover intentions were distinct forms of organizational withdrawal and to examine the similarities and differences between their predictors. The authors used multiple regression analysis with a sample of 253 working adults who are employed with major financial institutes including banks and investment companies located at Seoul and Kyunggi province.The influence of common and unique predictors that affect early retirement intension and turnover intension were examined. The results suggested that there were significant differences between the antecedents of early retirement intentions and turnover intentions except for organizational commitment, age as well as involuntary resignation from the employee's perspective.The investigation findings were discussed and suggested that there are significant differences between early retirement and turnover and it is necessary for managers to treat them separately for some purposes. Implications and future research needs are discussed.
