Abstract

In the presented article a novel by 20th century distinguishingly interesting Turkish writer - Oğuz Atay - “The Disconnected” is considered in the context of the concept of the habitus developed by the French sociologist - Pierre Bourdieu. The aim of the article is to answer the following questions on the basis of observing the protagonists of the novel: a) What kind of fields and habitus does the reader find in the novel? b) Does the habitus, formed under the influence of the objective social environment and supported by preconceived schemes, change as a result of the new schemes included in it by the individual?
