Abstract

The article attempts to examine the emerging social field of social theater in modern Russian society. The study of social theater through the prism of the paradigm of constructivist structuralism and Pierre Bourdieu's theory of social spaces and fields allows presenting it as a relatively autonomous social field generated by the more extended in space and time fields of art in general and theater in particular. As a result of this research, the au-thor has given a general characterization of the social theater field and its main constituents: field agents, their habitus, their cultural, social, economic, and symbolic capitals, as well as the position of the social theater field in relation to other social fields. The use of the concept of social fields opens new opportunities for a compre-hensive sociological study of the phenomenon of social theater.
