Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze the effects of exercise types on cognitive function and on related factors of the female elderly. The selected subjects were divided into walking exercise group, yoga exercise group, aquarobic exercise group and control group(10, 9, 10, 9 respectively). Exercise programs were done for 50~60 minutes a day, three times a week, for 12 weeks. In conclusion, MMSE-K socre and follow command among cognitive functions did not changed in all exercise groups, but decreased in control group. Memory recall and Reaction Time and Recognition increased in yoga and aquarobic exercise respectively. BDNF expression among neurotrophic factors increased in yoga exercise and decreased in control group. And BDNF did not changed in walking and aquarobic exercise. Therefore, it is thought that various types of exercise should be done complexly to improve cognitive functions and BDNF expression.
