Abstract
This study was conducted to analyze the influence of enjoyment scales of Korean dance on leisure enthusiasm. For this study, female Korean dance participants were selected through convenience sampling. This study targeted women learning Korean dance at culture centers for seniors, public sports centers, community centers and private dance academies in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do, and for gathering data, the subjects were asked to fill in self-administered questionnaires. A total of 328 questionnaires were distributed and 318 questionnaires excepting those with unreliable responses were used for final analysis. The study results are as below. First, vitality, perceived competence, club atmosphere and recognition of enjoyment scales of Korean dance significantly affected efficacy, energy, commitment and involvement of leisure enthusiasm. This means when Korean dance participants find it more enjoyable to learn Korean dance, leisure enthusiasm increases more. These enjoyment scales can play an important role in sustaining a leisure activity which is accompanied by pleasure and develop into leisure enthusiasm through internalization. Second, there were differences in the influence of enjoyment scales of Korean dance on leisure enthusiasm between the groups. In the competition participating group, perceived competence, recognition and club atmosphere of enjoyment scales influenced the sub-scales of leisure enthusiasm, and in the non-participating group, vitality and recognition influenced the sub-scales of leisure enthusiasm. In conclusion, more diverse studies on enjoyment scales of Korean dance need to be carried out in the future based on this study in order to improve education programs of Korean dance, as a kind of community dance for the aged society and provide proper environments.
