Abstract

The purpose of this study was to the relationship between Korean dance participation and mental health. The study examine the relationship between Korean dance and mental health according to participation type and participation degree(intensity, frequency, and duration). The subject of this study were selected 405(216 participants, 189 non-participants) by the method systematic stratified cluster random sampling in Korean dance participated at culture center and dance studio located in Ulsan metropolitan city. The survey questionnaires were used to collect data. The questionnaire designed for this study were consisted of mental health. The statistical methods employed in this study for data analysis were t-test, analysis of variance(ANOVA), and multiple regression analysis. The findings of this study were as follows First, Participation type in Korean dance and mental health of adult female has increased mental health more participation than non-participation. Mental health has significant difference in somatization, depression, anxiety, hostility, phobic anxiety, paranoid ideation whereas has no significant difference in obsessive compulsive, interpersonal sensitivity, and psychotic. Second, Participation intensity among participation degree has significant influence in mental health, and participation frequency and duration has no significant influence in mental health.
